362 The Fleetwoods “Come Softly To Me” 1959
“The Fleetwoods’ song, written by group members Gary Troxel, Gretchen Christopher, and Barbara Ellis, was shot through with nonsense syllables, a sort of baby talk set in counterpoint to the come-hither lyrics.
