“It’s possible for some Americans to be better known in England than they are in the United States. In the case of a trio of rock ‘n’ roll singers who call themselves the Ronettes, it’s highly probable. Voted the third top singing group in England last year, they were topped only by the Beatles and the Rolling Stones. A year earlier they had been tabbed ‘The Best Girl Group in England’ when their record, Be My Baby, became a hit. ‘We visited England then,’ recalls one of the girls, Nedra Talley, ‘and were given a welcome party by the Beatles.
